Test drive the next release of Jalview with the Jalview Test Desktop App! If you need to access the next version in order to test out teaching materials, or take advantage of hot-fixes for bugs not yet patched in the current release then we recommend you install the Jalview Test App. You’ll also find links to the latest release candidates for JalviewJS.

Download Jalview Test

The Jalview Test App installs and runs as a separate application along side Jalview, in the same way as Jalview Develop. When launched, it updates from the Jalview Test channel (read about channels here). When first launched, it will read your ~/.jalview_properties, and but afterwards uses its own settings at ~/.jalview_test_properties, so your regular Jalview preferences are preserved.

You can find links for installation instructions in the notes for your platform or different ways of running Jalview Test in the table above. Some of these are the same instructions for the other native Jalview Apps, but should still work.

Other ways to install/launch Jalview Test

You can install Jalview Test in a number of ways other than the main desktop installer. You may find one of the methods below suits your needs better.

If you install and use Jalview Test, you’re beta-testing the next release of Jalview. That means that if you find a problem, we’d really appreciate you let us know so we can fix it before the next version of Jalview is officially released.
